About

When a space is right, you stop wanting. What you have feels like enough. That is what we are working towards.

Most renovations add more. We are interested in the opposite: finding what already works and making better use of the existing. This can avoid unnecessary work, help the house last longer and reduce the need to change it again.

Polina Morova is a UK-registered architect and founder of PMO, based in East London. She trained at the Bartlett and worked at Herzog & de Meuron and Carmody Groarke.

She writes the Essential Architecture Substack and contributes to Monocle magazine.

Essential Architecture

Before choosing an architect, it helps to understand how they think.

Essential Architecture Substack is about homes, domestic life and the ideas behind our projects.

Start with these three pieces to see whether our approach feels right for you.
